Selling By Owner in a Slow Market
Pub Date: 6/18/2008 11:16:05 AM
You have property to sell and you want to save money by going “by owner”. Great Idea, even in a slow market, you can be succesful. But first, you need to go back to marketing basics.

First, know what is for sale in your area (competition), what has sold in the last 3 months (this will give you an idea what people are willing to pay for a similar home) and with this information, set an aggressive price. After you have established your price you need to market your property. Put a “For Sale Sign” on your lawn, about 10 percent of sales come from this source in a slow market. Market your property on the internet. Make sure you take no less than 8 digital pictures. Many buyers don't bother looking at listing with no pictures. You can also give out flyers of your home, making sure you mention that you are selling FSBO to encourage buyers to come and have a look of your property.
